Calories Burned Calculator
Estimate calories used during common activities from duration and body weight.
Results are estimates for general information only. Food portions, recipes and individual needs vary. This tool is not medical advice.
How calories burned are estimated
The calculator uses Metabolic Equivalent of Task (MET) values. A MET describes the energy cost of an activity relative to rest. The selected MET value is combined with body weight and duration to estimate energy use.
Why actual calories burned vary
Pace, terrain, technique, temperature, fitness, body composition and wearable accuracy can all change the real figure. Two people completing the same activity for the same time may not burn exactly the same number of calories.
Frequently asked questions
Is a fitness watch more accurate?
A wearable can use heart-rate and movement data, but it still provides an estimate rather than a laboratory measurement.
Does exercise intensity matter?
Yes. Faster or harder activity generally uses more energy, so choose the option closest to your actual effort.
Should I eat back every estimated exercise calorie?
Not automatically. Exercise and food estimates both contain uncertainty, so use the result as general context.
